1. my new band, stickfigure philharmonic finally has an mp3 up... sorta. Just a sample. We suck at the recording thing, but we had to get SOMETHING up. www.myspace.com/stickfigurephilharmonic

2. i am looking for a SERIOUS partner in opening my cafe up here in Philly. My ex kinda screwed my credit up so I'm not sure I can get the full amount, and I'd love to go into this with a partner anyway. If you are interested in investing or being a silent partner or being a half partner and working with me, I am interested in you. I'm serious about this - i already have a restaurant license and some equipment and have found the space that I would like to put this in. I looked at the space today and I'm ready to go. I am talking to an investment company tomorrow about financing, but i have my doubts about what i will get. I just wanted to throw this out there. Message me back with interest and we can talk more details.

Boink needs a home.

Sky
Well... My ex wife has been complaining about my cat boink that she has. I mean, god forbid that i have one cat living in the house that WAS ours but now is hers and i get no compensation for, but she has asked me to take him, and she also made her myspace headline, which this is real good...
"i gave her my heart and she left me her cat"

HAHAHAHA shes funny sometimes!!
anyway, i can't have him where i'm at but i want to get him out of there, not for her, but for him. He needs a stable and loving home, he's moved too many times.
He's about 5 years old, his full name is Boink Pagong Tagi. He's neutered and up to date on shots. I think he's part maine coon cuz he's big and furry and makes funny noises and really likes water. The bathroom is his favorite room. He gets along fine with other cats and he's very friendly, but a bit of a primadonna. please help me, i'd love to see him in a happy home.

Shivaloka @ Night and Day
Shiva ~ still, resting, and all absorbing consciousness
Loka ~ realm or world

Shivaloka represents that space of deep stillness that we come to through meditation on sound, music, and ancient sanskrit prayers. Kirtan is like practicing sound meditation; as a group, we sing call and response and let the energy of the music build into a tangible force that both draws you deep into yourself, and helps you expand into the group consciousness.

Drawing on the rich traditions of India, we accompany traditional prayers and mantras sung in sanskrit with the harmonium, ektar, guitar, hand drums and percussion from around the world.

Shivaloka is Lisa Peters on vocals, harmonium, ektar and kartals, and Jeffery Dean Seidel on guitar and percussion. We're joined by a colorful collection of bhaktis; Jess-Eye, Jubadew and Frank on drums and percussion, Kerry and Emma on kartals and vocals, and Dennis on standup bass.

No singing experience is necessary to participate in and enjoy kirtan! Let your voice be heard!

Thanksgiving, hunting, and things about them that confuse me
01:24pm 27/11/2006

Sky
I just have to talk about these two things, Thanksgiving and Hunting.

Thanksgiving - yeah, we know that the holiday is based on falseness and ridicule, oh, and turkey - i'm used to that. I still hate holidays, except for Groundhog Day.
We went down to Reading to spend Thanksgiving with Jes' family. We went Tuesday night, so we got two whole nights to party entirely too hard with Stephanie and her mom. That part was great - then Thursday came and it was family dinner time. Jes' mom had 35 people there - half of which not only did I not know, but neither did Jes. There was a table in the dining room, a table in the kitchen and a table in the basement. We took the basement, I thought it would feel safer down there, being that there wasn't any servings of the three turkeys or the ham on our plates... I was wrong. We were safe from any vegetarian wisecracks, but this girl, this 10 year old girl - this monster, came down and sat across from me. On her plate - a couple baby carrots, a couple cucumber slices and a gigantic turkey drumstick. She tore into it like a T-rex. She would even bite onto the cartilage at the end, and if she got skin or strongy parts in her mouth, she would just pull at it and the strings would tear off and bounce around in the air - then she would take her fingers and shove it in her mouth. This continued for about 5 minutes and i got up and said, i'm done. Jes was like, and what, i have to sit here by myself? and i said, i'm sorry, i'm done, i have to be done, and went upstairs. That's my Thanksgiving story - now Hunting
Short one here, I just thought you city folks might be interested in this...

School systems in this area have today off, and tomorrow, and some of them even wednesday. Why? Hunting days. Today is the first day of hunting season. If we don't give them the day off, no one shows up. Scary. I grew up in the country and we didn't even have Hunting days.

Saturday we had our first annual Furkey day, that was way better - an entire vegetarian Thanksgiving with just our friends, no family. Everyone brought a veggie dish to pass, it was great! Holy STUFFED. I made Tofurkey, a broccoli casserole and pecan pie. Good friends, good food, good times, love yall <3

honeymoon - day 6
04:32pm 05/09/2006

Sky
Every morning around 8 or 8:30, we wake up to this obnoxious yelling, and i am TIRED of it!!! At first, we couldn't figure out what they were yelling, we thought it was in a different language, maybe some religion or cult praying to their god or chanting or something, but after the first morning we had to inspect it further - today is the third day that we've heard it, and I MUST know. So we see them across the courtyard, and they spot me through a small break in the trees and they yell directly at me, but i still can't understand them! So they keep moving and we see them come around the side of the hotel - there was a sidewalk that ran all the way around the hotel, in a rounded triangle, so its boundaries touch 3 different streets. I walked over to a part of a balcony that was close to them to take a picture and they were yelling directly at me again... i said WHAT ARE YOU YELLING ABOUT!!!?!? they said GET YOUR MONEY BACK.. i was like ok, from who? so they said that the comfort inn steals money and spreads disease, so now i'm like, hmm, maybe this is something i need to learn about, maybe i can help -

we go down to breakfast and ask an employee what it's all about - apparently they've been doing it for a year now. They're trying to become unionized and a union leader is paying them to picket. It's been in the news recently - there was court action and I believe they lost. Whatever, it was really annoying to wake up to.

we head back downtown to do some shopping, because that's what we do best! Here's a bunch of people playing chess on the street - Jes should have challenged them, but holy hell they were playing FAST.

So we shopped until it was time to go back to the hotel and get ready for our dinner cruise that Kay gave us for our wedding gift. The shop set off at 7PM, we left the hotel at 6:00 to make a trip that generally had been taking us about 20 minutes... OK so it's 6:54 and we're like, not even close - first of all traffic was backed up for monster park, which is where some pro-sports team was having a game.. then we realized that mapquests directions weren't the greatest, surprise surprise... and THEN we had to find parking - we said, fuck it, and took the garage at $6 and hour. We hustled our butt across the road and down to pier 43 1/2. We were the last people on, if we were one minute later we would have missed the Red and White Fleet.
We set off into the foggy, misty, overcast seas...

2 hours, dinner, appetizers and a complimentary drink, we rode under the golden gate bridge, around an island and past alcatraz - it was all very pretty, but very cold

The fog rolling over the mountains was AMAZING - i can't really explain it, it's something you have to see, we tried to capture it. It looked like something thick and liquidy, poured over the mountains, running down around the homes and then back up a hill and splashing into the air.

we also tried to get a picture of alcatraz, but by that time it was dark and nothing came out... it was really awesome and breathtaking though.

Honeymoon - day 5
04:20pm 05/09/2006

Sky
For those of you who have been dying for me to update on our honeymoon (which i doubt is anyone) I am finally posting day 5, even though we got home from our trip already! I stopped posting because of these reasons:
1) internet connection in our hotel was a BITCH. Did i mention that in order to stay connected long enough to write anything we had to sit outside of our room, OUTSIDE - and san francisco isnt that warm, truly. Not to mention i couldn't stay connected long enough to upload the pictures AND post a journal.
2) i spent most of my time online trying to connect to Ebay live help because someone stole my password, changed my personal information and listed a couple computers on my account. They also got into my yahoo email and changed my personal information as well - which has yet to be fixed, yahoo is not as easy to get ahold of or deal with as Ebay is.

So, Day 5, we mostly shopped, so we don't have a lot of pictures... we shopped until we dropped. And before we dropped, we picked up this awesome Buddha in the Gayborhood - Castro street, at a place called world weavers or planet weavers, or something - a shop full of awesome tribal and buddhist and fairy type things. We decided we have to get a new buddha everytime we go to a new city.

amd jes was craving Thai all day, so she piggied out on this meal - and decided that she wanted to show you all

yum yum!!!

honeymoon - day 4
02:51pm 30/08/2006

Sky
we woke up this morning after all that nice sleep, but still early. Super recharged now! We take the laptop down to breakfast in the courtyard, our new little ritual. Today we actually looked up some info so that we're going into the city with directions instead of wandering. Taking Zach's advice, we head to Haight street and park as soon as we see the first cool looking shop.

and outside of that shop, a really cool tree sculpture

The shop was a recycled bicycle shop, but it was closed... We thought it was just because it was still kind of early in the morning, but as we walked down the street we noticed a lot of the stores were closed. We wandered into a cute little coffee shop with a middle eastern theme. My latte was pretty good, the art on the walls was awesome - jes spilled some of her coffee on the counter - oopsie daisy.
We finally found a shop that was open, a costume shop. They actually had my black mamba costume, but I didn't like it very much and it was pretty pricey. About to leave, one of the guys that works there started talking to us so we decided to ask him where to go. He said the shops there must have been closed because a lot of people went to the Burning Man Festival. OH!! That explains why the streets are so empty! Next year i plan on going THERE, i've always wanted to - but anyway, he told us to head further down haight and we'll find lots of awesome things to do. So, we drive up up up a hill and down down down a hill, and then up up up a hill and EUREKA, here it is, the people and places we've been looking for!
One of the first shops that caught our eye was this crazy jewelry shop. If it doesn't catch your eye, you're blind. I felt like an autistic child with all the shininess.

Didn't buy anything, but it was pretty!
Up the street some, head shops and expensive clothing shops, hippy shops, tatoo parlors, cafes, music stores, etc...

We shopped and shopped and shopped for clothes, but our shpoping was rather fruitless. The clothes were AWESOME, but the prices were absurd. We finally ended up buying stuff at a place called Wasteland. They had new and used stuff. Jes got an old school track jacket and a tie - i got a sweet sweater hoodie with really long sleeves that says portugal on the back. We walked to the end of the street, as suggested to the hubungous music store, but first we ate lunch at, um, neither of us can remember the name,.. but it was a coffee shop and cafe. Jes had spinach and pesto lasagna and I had a vegetarian sandwich with hummus, avacado and lotsa fresh veggies on it. The table we sat at - tabletop pacman. Good stuff. Then we went into Ameoba the music store. I could have spent all day in there but after buying Lamb's first CD to replace the one we cant find and the Weeds soundtrack, i pulled myself away so we could move the car.
Walking back to the car we stopped into a tatoo shop and Jes stayed there... she got the Kanji symbol for Sky on her neck

yeah thats my wife! Matching tatoos on our back and my name on her neck! HOT.
After the tatoo we decide to head back to the hotel. Found some sweet graffiti on the way to the car - this one is for you Luke...

We decided to take some swervy, curvy roads back, i was curious. JACKPOT, we found the rich area

we were so high up in the hilltops that the fog was rolling over the tops of the mountains, around the houses, while the air was clear, the sky was blue below in the beautiful city, what a view it was.

Back to the hotel for some snacking, some napping, getting ready for Cat Power! I was so excited to find in the paper that she was playing two solo shows tonight so I had called and bought tickets.
We head out from the hotel around 9:30 to get to the 10:30 show. Mapquest fucked with us - good thing jes knows what she's doing because the sense of direction i thought i had, no, i dont. We finally got to the Great American Music Hall around 10:30, and the line was wrapped around the corner.

Both shows were sold out. The show was.. eh, well it was ok. I had seen her a few years ago in philly and she was total skizo, and it was a sight to see. This time, she sobered up. She said she allows herself one drink a month. Jes said - can that be tonight? Her voice is amazing, but the show was a little boring. Still love her though.
Outside walking back to the car...

OH BOY!!

and jes tries to take another picture of ourselves:

A great end to a great day! We love it here <3

honeymoon - day 3
01:01pm 30/08/2006

Sky
We woke up pretty early this morning, not used to this west coast time yet. Feeling a little refreshed we trucked down to our continental breakfast at 7:30. We have to take the computer down with us because we can't get a connection in our room. Pretty shitty wireless, we're not even that far from the hub. The courtyard is very pretty though...

The pool however, is AMAZING!!!!

haha - it's about 10 feet in diameter and about 3 feet deep and it actually has a sign that says "WARNING, NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY"

Today we're taking it slow - After breakfast we both got baths and took our sweet time to get ready. We were getting into the car to leave and look at that - i catch jes ridin dirtay!!

Look at that mobstermobile! It looks like the barrel of a shotgun should be inching out the window.

The view on the way in is beautiful, the next picture doesn't do it justice. The hill/mountain tops are so high that they always have fog rolling over them, and the houses are pushing up the hill in all directions.

So we head to chinatown, sky buys a bracelet, and we wander around until we're starving and tired and start getting cranky. Jes tried to order vegetable dumplings but the lady didnt understand "no pork" so she just walked out. We finally decided to stop looking for a restaurant and head to a grocery store so we could stock up our mini fridge - it's too expensive to eat out for every meal. We bought a buttload of junk food, hey, it's vacation, and some veggie burgers, dogs and turkey - took it back to the hotel room, filled our tummies and took a nap with intentions of waking up and going to some gay bar with "suicide karaoke." Well, we didnt make it, We woke up at 12:30am, had a little snack and went back to bed!
